Warranty and refund policy

This policy explains how National Laptop Computer Repair Centre (NLCRC) handles limited repair warranties and refund-related questions for workshop hardware services. It supplements our terms and conditions and any written quote or invoice for your specific job.

What this policy covers

This policy applies to eligible hardware-related repair work completed by NLCRC on PCs, laptops, and Apple computers where a limited warranty is stated on your invoice or repair documentation.

It does not replace:

  • Manufacturer warranties (Apple, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and others)
  • Data recovery outcomes — recovery is assessment-led and cannot be guaranteed
  • Managed IT, hosting, or business support service levels unless agreed in a separate contract
  • Secure destruction or recycling certificates beyond what was quoted for that job

6-month limited repair warranty

Where stated on your repair documentation, eligible hardware-related services include a 6-month limited warranty from the date of collection or agreed handover, covering:

  • Workmanship on the repair scope we completed
  • Parts or components supplied and fitted by NLCRC as part of that approved repair

Warranty cover applies only to the specific fault or component addressed in the completed repair, not to unrelated faults that develop later.

Warranty exclusions

  • Physical damage, liquid ingress, or misuse after the device is returned to you
  • Software, operating system, or data issues unless explicitly part of the approved repair scope
  • Damage caused by subsequent repair, modification, or opening by a third party
  • Normal wear, consumables, or parts not supplied by NLCRC unless stated otherwise
  • Loss of data — you are responsible for backups; see our data handling notice below
  • Issues unrelated to the original repair scope or symptoms not present at return

Diagnostics, pricing, and approval

Diagnostic and evaluation fees may apply depending on the device and fault. We explain any fee before chargeable work begins, and where offered it may be credited toward an approved repair.

No repair work is performed without your approval unless we have agreed otherwise in writing for a specific commercial arrangement.

Refunds and cancellations

  • If you decline a quoted repair after evaluation, you may still be liable for agreed diagnostic or bench time charges explained upfront.
  • Once parts are ordered specifically for your device, cancellation may incur part and handling costs if those parts cannot be returned to stock.
  • If work has started with your approval, refunds are assessed against labour and parts already committed.
  • Consumer rights under UK law may apply in addition to this policy where relevant — we will explain your options if a dispute arises.

Data and backup

You are responsible for backing up your data before service. Repair, recovery, and secure destruction workflows can involve data loss risk even when we work carefully — we will explain options before proceeding.

Making a warranty claim

Contact us with your repair reference, invoice, and a description of the recurring fault. We may ask to inspect the device before confirming warranty cover. See also our brand disclaimer for independence from manufacturers.
