Privacy overview
We process personal data to deliver repairs, managed IT services, recycling, and portal accounts. Categories include contact details, device identifiers, ticket content, billing records, and technical logs required to secure our systems.
Lawful bases include contract performance, legitimate interests in running a secure service, and legal obligations such as tax record keeping. We do not sell your data to brokers.
How we measure visits to our website
We run our own first-party visitor measurement on nlcrc.co.uk. It helps us see which adverts, searches and websites bring people to us, and which pages lead to an enquiry, booking or order. We do not sell this data or share it with third parties for their own use.
Without your consent (before you choose, or if you click "Reject") we record only basic, anonymous page-level data: the page address without any tracking parameters, the website you came from (domain only), the type of device (mobile, tablet or desktop), the time, and anonymous shop activity such as which product was viewed, how far the page was scrolled and which checkout field was last used (field names only, never what you type). We set no cookie, and we do not store your IP address, browser details or advertising identifiers.
If you accept cookies
When you click "Accept" on our cookie notice we also set a first-party cookie, nlcrc_vid, holding a random visitor ID (kept for up to 13 months), and a session cookie, nlcrc_vsid (expires after 30 minutes of inactivity).
We record the page you first landed on, the website that referred you, campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) and advertising click identifiers (Google gclid/gbraid/wbraid, Microsoft msclkid, Meta fbclid).
We record your device type and browser user agent, and a shortened IP address with the last part removed (for example 81.2.69.0), which cannot identify an individual device.
We record actions such as page views, clicks on our phone number or WhatsApp links, form submissions, bookings, product views, items added to the basket, checkout steps and purchases. We never record what you type into forms.
We link the visitor ID and the first and most recent traffic source to any enquiry, booking or order you make with us, so we know which marketing works.
Lawful basis, retention and your choices
The visitor cookie and advertising identifiers are used only with your consent (PECR and UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Anonymous, cookie-less page measurement relies on our legitimate interest in understanding how our website is used (Article 6(1)(f)).
Visit and event records are deleted automatically 13 months after your last visit. After that, any enquiry, booking or order keeps only the general traffic source (for example "google / cpc") with no visitor or session identifier. We exclude search-engine crawlers and other bots from these records.
You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page: choosing "Reject" deletes our visitor cookies and returns you to anonymous-only measurement. You can also clear cookies in your browser, or contact us to ask for access to or deletion of data linked to your enquiry, booking or order.
Retention, rights, and contact
Retention periods depend on the service: repair files may be kept for warranty periods; finance records follow statutory requirements; portal logs rotate on a schedule. You may request access, correction, or erasure where applicable law allows—some workshop records must be kept for compliance.
For privacy questions email the address on our contact page with “Privacy” in the subject. We respond within reasonable timescales and may ask for identity verification before releasing account data.
