When a repaired laptop bluescreens after reassembly, separate hardware relapse from driver/OS issues. Capture - Note bugcheck code (e.g. SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION) and the failing module if shown. - In Windows: Get-WinEvent -FilterHashtable @{LogName='System'; Id=41,1001,6008} -MaxEvents 20 Hardware vs software forks - Same BSOD in a clean WinPE or Linux live USB stress → lean hardware (RAM, storage, GPU/VRM). - Only fails in full Windows after a driver/update → lean software. Driver hygiene - Remove leftover GPU/chipset packages before installing the correct OEM or vendor set. - Avoid random “driver updater” tools. Ask the forum with: board/model, Windows build, bugcheck code, and whether WinPE is stable.
