Paraphrased English checklist for “fans spin / power LED on, but no picture” (themes commonly discussed in repair communities; rewritten for NLCRC).
Split the problem
- Backlight vs image data: flashlight test on the panel at an angle. If you see a faint image, chase backlight enable / boost. If truly black, chase eDP/LCD power and GPU/PCH output.
Quick checks
- External display: if HDMI/DP works, suspect panel, cable, or eDP path — not necessarily the whole GPU.
- LCD cable reseat and panel swap when available.
- Measure panel main voltage and backlight enable around the power-on window.
Board-level
- Use BoardView for the eDP connector pins and LCD power FETs.
- Confirm clock/reset to the display path only after core power and POST-related rails look sane.
If you have the board PN, post it with photos of the eDP area and your voltage list.
