This guide explains how NLCRC techs use BoardView files together with Sumita-style board PDFs and schematics. It is written in English for the NLCRC forum (paraphrased practice notes — not a copy of another site’s posts).
1) Identify the exact board
- Read the PCB part number and revision silkscreen (and ODM markings: Compal / Wistron / Quanta, etc.).
- Do not open a “close enough” BoardView. Wrong revision wastes hours and can point you at nets that do not exist on your board.
2) Open the trio
- Schematic PDF: net names, IC pinouts, power trees.
- BoardView: click a designator (e.g. PQ301, PU101) to highlight pads and connected copper.
- Sumita / board-map PDF: printable top/bottom maps for marking test points during rework.
3) Safe probing order
- Confirm adapter/battery path and main enable rails before chasing obscure signals.
- On BoardView, locate the IC, then find a solid ground and the rail test point from the schematic.
- Write measured voltages on the Sumita map so the next shift sees what you already checked.
4) File hygiene
- Prefer checksums when we publish downloads.
- Never flash a BIOS dump until board PN, chip ID, and ME/EC expectations match.
Need a missing BoardView or Sumita PDF? Use Downloads → Request file, or open a BIOS/board file request. Mail-in remains available (free diagnostic, £15 return shipping if you decline repair).
