Original NLCRC English triage for “adapter plugged in, nothing happens” (common laptop-forum theme; rewritten — not a copy of any site’s posts).
Split the path
1) Barrel / USB-C receptacle → first FET / protection → system bus (often called B+/VBAT/adapter bus).
2) Charge controller enable and current-sense path.
3) Always-on rails that the EC expects before it will accept a power button.
Quick measurements (schematic names vary)
- Adapter voltage at the jack under load (not only open-circuit).
- Voltage after the first series FET / ideal diode.
- Resistance-to-ground on the first bus — a hard short here stops everything downstream.
Do not skip
- Wrong tip / PD brick that never contracts voltage.
- Blown DC jack or cracked USB-C shell that only works when flexed.
- First-stage MOSFET shorted or open.
When you post for help: board PN, photo of the jack area, adapter volts at jack, ohms on the first bus, and whether the charge LED ever blinks.
